Terms of use

The rules for using this site, and the limits of what it can do for you.

Last updated 18 August 2026

This site is run by FreeWeightDojo, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. By using it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

What this site is

A free reference showing how strength exercises are performed and which muscles they work. It is general information published for a general audience. It is not personal training, not a programme written for you, and not a substitute for coaching.

Training is your risk to take

Lifting weights can injure you. Whether any exercise here is appropriate for you depends on your health, your history and your experience. We know none of these.

  • Speak to a doctor before starting or changing how you train, particularly if you are pregnant, recovering from injury or illness, or have a condition affecting your heart, joints, back or blood pressure.
  • Stop if something hurts. Pain that persists is a question for a doctor or a physiotherapist.
  • You decide what to attempt and what to load. You are responsible for that decision and for training somewhere safe, with equipment in good order.

Nothing on this site is medical advice, and reading it does not create any professional or duty-of-care relationship between us.

Accuracy

We work to keep the exercise descriptions and muscle attributions correct, and we correct what we find to be wrong. We do not promise the site is complete, current or error-free. If you spot a mistake, tell us.

What you may do with the material

Read it, use it in your own training, and link to it. Linking needs no permission.

You may not, without our written permission:

  • copy, download in bulk, scrape, mirror or republish the demonstration clips, the still images, or the written descriptions;
  • use any of it to build or train a dataset, model or competing library;
  • frame or embed the clips elsewhere, or present the material as your own.

The demonstration animations are licensed to us by a third-party studio. That licence does not pass to you by viewing them. The written descriptions, the design and the name belong to FreeWeightDojo.

Your account

Reading the exercise pages needs no account. Building and logging a workout does, and making one is free.

You sign in with your email address and a password. Keep the password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has used it. You need to be 16 or over to make an account.

One account is for one person. Do not share it, and do not use somebody else's email address to make one.

What you log

The workouts you record are yours. We store them so we can show them back to you on your devices, and we do not use them for anything else, publish them, or sell them. What we do with them is set out on the privacy page.

Keep your own copy. We take reasonable care, but this is a free service and we do not guarantee your history against loss.

Ending it

You can close your account at any time from Settings inside the workout builder. It goes immediately and takes everything attached to it. We keep no copy and cannot restore it.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used to attack the site, to get at somebody else's data, or to take the demonstration animations. If we close yours for any other reason we will tell you at the address you signed up with and give you a chance to ask for your data first.

Availability

The site is provided as is. We do not guarantee it will be available, uninterrupted or free of faults, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it at any time.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from performing any exercise described on it, including any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

If you use the site in the course of a business, we are not liable for loss of profit, business, contracts or anticipated savings.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not remove the protection of any mandatory law of the country you live in.
